Ways to Get Involved

Healthcare Advisory Board

As a Healthcare Advisory Board member you will have an opportunity make your expertise available to both MS Focus and the community we serve. All members are experienced in conventional and/or complementary disciplines, and they generously volunteer their time and knowledge to help guide and direct both our educational programs and our patient services.

Duties of the Healthcare Advisory Board include:

  • Identifying trends in MS treatment and/or management of and 
  • Identifying advances in relevant and promising MS research
  • Providing context and clarity to new information in their respective fields
  • Highlighting under-addressed topics of interest to the MS community
  • Guiding the efforts of the MS Focus staff to educate and assist the MS community

Candidates for the Healthcare Advisory Board must be:

  • Licensed or certified in medical or health-related fields
  • Available to answer questions from MS Focus staff
  • Provide periodic updates on advances in their area of specialty
  • Willing to meet semi-annually, by phone or in person

MS Focus Speakers Bureau

Year-round, and across the nation, MS Focus presents patient education programs regarding all aspects of life with MS. MS Focus encourages qualified healthcare professionals to speak during these programs. We utilize a variety of communication mediums, including teleconferences, streaming video, and conventional in-person meetings. The topics vary, but have covered subjects such as: 

  • Symptom management,
  • Current research,
  • Coping and emotional adjustment
  • Psychology and MS

 Qualified professionals must have:

  • Public speaking experience 
  • Professional or academic experience with MS
  • The ability to convey information in a clear, concise, and compassionate manner that is understandable to the layperson
