Outdoor adventure programs open for registration

March 16, 2022
First Descents announces its outdoor adventure programs are now open for registration. First Descents programs are free of cost for adolescents and young adults affected by MS and healthcare workers. Additionally, they provide travel scholarships to individuals who cannot afford transportation to program locations.

To be eligible to attend a program, participants must be diagnosed between the ages of 15-39 and be between the ages of 18-45. Participants do not require any previous experience with the outdoor activities. First Descents works with experienced outfitters to ensure expert instruction and adaptive programming. Programs are capped between 12 and 15 participants to promote individual attention and connectivity. A trained medical professional is at every program in addition to emergency response plans specifically tailored to program locations.

First Descents is a Denver-based nonprofit that has been providing free outdoor adventures nationwide for young adults diagnosed with cancer and MS for more than 20 years. Participants experience free outdoor adventure programs that empower them to climb, paddle, and surf beyond their diagnosis, reclaim their lives, and connect with others doing the same.
