She is unlimited in her patience and love towards me. She notices my needs before I say anything, and provides comfort in ways only someone who truly knows you can. Her strength carries me through impossible days, and her tenderness reminds me I’m never alone. She makes a difference every day by turning my fear into reassurance and my struggle into resilience. With her by my side, my life is full of love that goes beyond caregiving. It is a partnership of the heart. Michael Garret - Nominated by Tara Doss, Kansas City, Mo. What makes my caregiver special is that he’s been taking care of me since he was 4 years old. That’s right, my only child, my son. From the day I was diagnosed in 2001, my son has made it his duty to care and motivate his mother. My son is still staying by my side, and being my biggest motivator. I asked him if he regrets not doing the things a typical child, teenager, and now adult would do. His response was “No.” I love my son with all my heart, and I wish to give him a gift to show how grateful and thankful I am for his help and support. She helps with daily tasks, but her heart lifts me through the hardest moments. She sacrifices a lot, and reminds me I’m not alone in this fight. MS tests us, but it cannot break the bond we have. He’s a very hard-working person. He gets up every morning at 3:30 a.m. to drive an hour or more to work. There’s been times when my legs hurt so bad he would carry me to bed. He would help me get ready for bed by helping me put on my PJs. He is always looking out for me and making sure I am taking care of my health. He is a very selfless person. He’s a great provider, spouse, and dad. I love our car rides on the weekend through the hill towns and countryside. He always puts family first, and that is why I nominate him.
