Dear Friends, On one of the rare occasions that I decided to venture out for the evening, I ran into afriend I had not seen in a long time. She is one of those people who always looks great. Shehas long, highlighted hair and is always dressed to the nines. As we greeted each other, I toldher that she looked so pretty. Even though I couldnt see her smile behind her mask, her eyeswere sparkling and her make-up was perfect. She commented that I looked so beautiful. Ofcourse, I kind of scoed. After all, I was wearing a jean skirt and t-shirt, have to wear glassesall the time now, was not wearing any make-up and was wearing my mask as well. She saidsomething to me that made me teary: Marcia, you need to see yourself the way that otherssee you. What she said got me thinking. After all, how many of us see ourselves the way others seeus? So often we are too critical of the way we look, the way we act, even the jobs we have. That sometimes leads to low self-esteem, feelings of inadequacy, anxiety, and even depression.I belong to some Facebook support groups where I see the members talking about those typesof feelings. During this crazy time when we are all so isolated, it might be too easy to feel thatway. Yet, what I also see is other members giving words of encouragement, even when theythemselves are having a rough day. They offer a smile, a virtual hug, a post with smileyfaces, or an uplifting saying. Starting on page four of this issue, I have shared some of thesesayings. I hope they will make you smile and remind you to start seeing yourself the way thatothers see you.Sincerely,Marcia Marty HarrisSupport Groups Program CoordinatorAshton VeronicaMS Focus does not advocate or endorse any specific treatments, healing modalities, or practitioners.
