Thayer, who has MS and is a member of the support group, is a licensed Veterinary Technician who specializes in herpetology, the study of amphibians and reptiles. Her unique profession - and appreciation for frogs - was sparked at an early age when she received her first stuffed frog friend as a symbol of good luck on her birthday, which happens to be St. Patrick’s Day. Since then, she has received a frog collectible for every birthday, holiday, event, and occasion and continued to add her to collection over the years. Today, Thayer has more than 10,000 pieces of frog memorabilia; 2,000 of those collectibles are on display at the Just Frogs & Friends Amphibian Center in Edmonds, Wash., which she founded eight years ago. Her collection has been recognized as “the largest collection of frog memorabilia” by the “Guinness Book of World Records.” Through the Amphibian Center, Thayer gives back to her community by providing outreach pro- grams and events for children and families, as well as frog adoption and rehabilitation. Thank you, Thayer, for inspiring us and reminding us that our calling in life may come in the most unexpected ways! The MS Sno-Flakes Support Group usually meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at 1:00 p.m. at Edmonds United Methodist Church, 828 Caspers Street, Edmonds, WA 98020.
