Women Who Disrupt MS is an online MS support group affiliated with MS Focus in April 2022. The group meets monthly via Zoom. Leaders Kathy Chester from Royal Oak, Mich., and Jen Phegley from Burbank, Calif., are both fitness gurus who combine their knowledge and personal experience with MS with exercise and healthy habits to disrupt their MS. We aim to provide guidance and make everlasting friendships as we move forward to disrupt our MS.They shared these experiences from past meetings: First, we had a younger. newly diagnosed patient that came into the group and she was consoled and counseled by the older group participants. She left the conversation feeling much more relieved and condent as she was headed to her neurologist appointment. Second, some of the older patient participants that are feeling beaten down have been uplifted by the optimism and energy of some of the younger participants. The younger diagnosed girls have a spirit to ght and a resilience.Many of us that have fought for years nd this refreshing and it helps us remember our why. Living Well with MS Support Group of Port Charlotte in Florida affiliated with MS Focus in February 2007. Leader Nikki Chouinard said they do not have pity parties at their meetings, but they do sometimes have birthday parties that include cake and door prizes. She said she loves being the leader of a warm and loving family. Nikki said that their mission is to provide education, support, acceptance, and love to people with multiple sclerosis and their families in a secure, pleasant environment. The group was originally set up as a womens group, but was changed in June 2022 to welcome men, women, and families.
