8 msfocusmagazine.org MS Focused MS Focus Grant Recipients Share Physical Therapy Expertise Dr. Herb Karpatkin and Dr. Stefanie DiCarrado will be offering a one-day course for physical therapists on Sept. 16, at the Hunter College Physical Therapy Department. Using funds from a Quality of Life Grant to help people with MS in an innovative way, they designed this course to educate physical therapists about evidence-based management of persons with MS, through lecture, discussion, and live patient demonstrations. Attendees of this course will learn how to provide the best possible patient care to people with MS in their communities, thus improving quality of life. Since 1996, the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation has awarded grants and endowments to universities, MS centers, and other nonprofit organizations, to help and support those organization's efforts to actively improve the quality of life for those with MS.
