His wife, Kendra, has been a registered nurse for almost 20 years. Together, they launched the MS Fitness Challenge, a global initiative that supports others diagnosed with MS. David’s published two books, David’s Goliath (Leafwood Publishers, 2013), and his new book for people with challenges to fitness, Everyday Health & Fitness with Multiple Sclerosis (FairWinds Press 2017). Mary Ellen Smolinski is 63 and was diagnosed with MS in 2009. Prior to that she had a successful career as an independent computer consultant. She still helps friends and family with their computers as long as it gives her time to go to the health club, take her daily nap, and spend time with her loving and now retired husband, and their son, daughter-in-law, and grandson. Lynn Kunz lives in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. She has been married to her soulmate, Charles, for 51 years, and has one son. Her favorite things to do are crafts, reading, and listening to music. She spent five years as assistant manager of a craft store, was an avid bowler, and loved to hike on vacations in the Smokey Mountains. Ben Thrower, M.D. is the medical director of theAndrew C. Carlos MS Institute at Shepherd Center in Atlanta, and the senior medical advisor for MS Focus. MykalJ.Leslie,M.Ed.,LPC,CRC is a clinical mental health counselor, where he provides community-based therapeutic interventions for adolescents withemotional,developmental, behavioral, and substance use diagnoses. He has worked with adults and adolescents in inpatient and outpatient settings. He has served as a committee chair for the Ohio Rehabilitation Association for more then three years and has presented research on a local, regional, and national level. Ellen Whipple, Pharm.D., has been a medical advisor with MS Focus since 2002. She is a clinical pharmacist employed as a medical affairs specialist, as well as an assistant clinical professor at the University of Georgia.
