For the 14th annual MS Focus Caregivers’ Night Out contest, we asked you to tell us what makes your caregiver special, and how he or she has made a difference in your life. We received submissions filled with heartwarming stories about spouses, children, and friends who all have made selfless sacrifices in order to make a difference in the lives of their loved ones. The decision was incredibly difficult. The following 11 submissions were chosen to receive a complimentary dinner for two at a restaurant of their choice from us here at MS Focus. We salute them and all the caregivers around the world who work every day to assist those who need their help. Mother-in-law steps up Amanda Stewart - Pittsburgh “Francis, my mother-in-law, more of a mom, will drop everything to help me. She takes off work to get me to doctor appointments. She watches my kids to give me a break. She even goes to MS events in order to learn more about MS just so she can better help me. Francis really tries to understand what I’m going through. She knows that I can’t do it all, and she steps up big time and never complains. Most of all, she loves and accepts me for who I am. I would be lost without her.” His right hand woman Erik Garcia - Houston “What can I say about my sister, Evelyn? She gets on my nerves like nothing else. But I wouldn’t trade her for a cure to MS. She has weathered the onset of both lupus and osteoporosis, and has also been though a kidney transplant. Yet, despite all of her issues, she sacrificed everything, even her personal life, to care for me and my family. I owe everything to her and then some. The MS has taken my right hand, crippling it. Yet, it’s okay, because now I get to refer to her as my right hand.” Life with MS
