A: The walk-a-thon brings fellowship, exercise, and it is fun. Although I couldn't walk, there were those who walked for me. Q: What elements of the event were the most challenging? A: The most challenging element was getting the event information out there, as far as media coverage is concerned. My goal is not only to get the event known across my community, but also throughout the state and beyond. Q: What do you think others should know about your experience creating and holding this event? A: They should ensure that they have a steadfast committee with individuals that will hold fast to the cause and will work it until the end. Have different committee members hold different duties – this helps with accountability. Q: What did you learn from the process of creating this event? A: Start as early as possible and make sure you have someone on the committee that is energetic, full of fire, and is a visionary! I also learned that it is a good idea to obtain sponsors. Q: List one interesting fact about yourself. A: It is a fact that I am a woman of faith and I am crazy enough believe that the God that I serve will keep me on my feet! Question asked: How has MS Focus changed your life? Brenda D Douglas: MS Focus has provided a resource that allows me to reach out when I have a question or just want to talk about MS with others who are dealing with the same issues. Kathleen Crudele: MS Focus has enabled me to become more involved in my community and to spread the word about all of the wonderful resources that they have to offer. I started my MS support group in Rhode Island called the RI Strollers. It has been a great success. It is so rewarding to see how much of a difference you can make in others’ lives while you too are struggling. Whatever ideas you have you can run them by the MS Focus staff and they will provide support. It is an honor be an MS Focus ambassador and represent such a great organization. The possibilities are endless with MS Focus. Everywhere you go bring your MS Focus info. I never leave home without it. The public, medical field, school, malls: connect with everyone. They are so thrilled when you inform them about MS Focus and you will find there is also so much that you will learn. This is how I roll! Rebecca Lynn Curley: Well, I am eternally grateful for the cooling vest, hat, and scarf I received from your organization. Without that gear I would not have been able to make car trips, family parties, or picnics to visit my son at college. Here in Michigan, it is still warm in the fall and my daughter is involved in cross-country and the meets can be long. I am so glad I will be able to watch my daughter’s cross country races and cheer her on in comfort, unlike last year. Thank you so much!
