We wake up at 5 a.m. each day so I can get ready before she leaves at 6:30 a.m. I get dressed and showered while she makes coffee and breakfast. We rescue boxers who need foster homes, so she feeds them, as well. Our mornings are always hectic. Thank God she is able to help me. It’s hard going to work every day, but I don’t want to sit home. Jackie has been the love of my life for 19 years, and I would love to take her out to a nice dinner because we don’t get to go out often. I would feel proud to show her a nice night out.” World’s greatest caregiver Gwen Roundtree - Ocala, Fla. “My husband, LeRoy, is my caregiver. We’ve been married for 27 years and I always knew he loved me, but after I was diagnosed inJan 2012, I really, really knew it. The symptoms hit me hard all at once – I couldn’t walk, I couldn’t inject myself – and my husband stepped right in. He has put his life on hold to take care of me. When we’re with my brother and I’m in the wheelchair, my brother will offer to push me but LeRoywill say, ‘No. This is mywife and I’m going to take care of her.’ He tells everyone that I come first. So, I would sayI have theworld’s greatest caregiver, LeroyRoundtree,Jr.!” A godsend and soulmate Keith Lowe - Belmont, N.C. “Mywife,Tobey, is myhero and mycaregiver. Iwas diagnosed with MS in January of 2010. I have slowly gotten worse and am now in a wheelchair. I told her that she did not sign up for this when we got married 32 years ago, but she decided to stand by me. She also helps with my 94-year-old mother and with my sisterwho is disabled due to a stroke. Tobey even works part-time as a special education teacher. I don’t know what my family and I would do without her. She is a godsend and my soulmate. I thank the Lord every day for my caring wife!” Life with MS
