It is absolutely astounding that five years has passed since the foundation’s 25th anniversary celebration. So much has happened in our cause during the past 30 years, from the introduction of disease-modifying therapies, to dramatic changes affecting healthcare coverage, to massive leaps in understanding MS and its symptoms. In fact, the past five years have seen more progress than any previous five-year period. We’re not out of the woods yet: the MS community is faced with ongoing controversies relating to access to medications and care. But, if progress continues at this rate for the next five years, the light at the end of the tunnel may finally be at hand. It is merely a matter of time. Our organization has undergone consid- erable change through the years, as well. We were initially focused on serving the greater Miami/Fort Lauderdale area, then expanded to cover the state of Florida, and, in time, the nation. As our geographic outreach has extended, so have our available programs and services. Today, we offer 20 nationally available programs, including a national network of more than 170 support groups. Over the course of 30 years, there have been numerous advances in technology that increased ourreach. The advent of the Internet is a prime example; the Foundation was quick to utilize it as an outreach tool from the earliest days of the Web. Today, we host three sites - msfocus.org, msfocusradio.org and msfocusmagazine.org - and use multiple social media platforms. While our geographic outreach, technology, and the look of this magazine have been changing over the last 30 years, one thing has not changed: our organization’s DNA.Thesamededicationandresourcefulness you have come to expect from us is as strong and focused today as it was when we first started. It is for this reason that many of our constituentshavereferredtousas“MS-focused.” So, it is with great pride that we are rolling out our rebranding initiative to coincide with our 30th anniversary. Our new logo refers to our organization no longer just as the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, but now incorporates the name so integral to all we do – MS Focus. We will be capping off the celebration of our milestone with a major event – our 30th AnniversaryGala to be held Dec. 3rd at the Ritz Carlton in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. In attendance will be prominent civic and social leaders, healthcare professionals, representatives of industry, and other supporters of our work. We hope to see you there as MS Focus turns its attention to achieving its next milestone. Jules Kuperberg Co-Executive Director Alan R. Segaloff Co-Executive Director
