Diagnosed in 2006, she uses technology to cope with the many difficulties that MS can present. Betty Gibson is a patient and MS advocate, diagnosed with relapsing remitting MS in 1989. She and her husband of 56 years, Gail, are both geologists, a very active life choice. As her MS symptoms became more apparent, Betty continued her career as a geology professor, teaching in the classroom and online. After their rst cruise to Alaska with the MS Focus team, they have continued to enjoy many cruises. Darbi Haynes-Lawrence is an associate professor at Western Kentucky University in the Child and Family Studies unit. Darbi has multiple sclerosis and uses her experiences as a researcher and a person living with MS to educate as many people as possible about the disease. Darbi and her student, Niah Soult, have written and illustrated three children's books for MS Focus.Herb Karpatkin is a board-certified neurologic clinical specialist, and a certified MS clinical specialist. He is an assistant professor of physical therapy at Hunter College and a medical advisor to MS Focus. His research has been published in the Journal of Neurologic Physical Therapy, Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Disability and Rehabilitation. He is the recipient of the 2015 American Physical Therapy Association Award for Excellence in Neurologic Education.Lakisha Gray has worked in the field of driver rehabilitation since 2019 at the Shepherd Center, in Atlanta. She has been a practicing occupational therapist since 2011 and has experience working with a variety of diagnoses.
